Google is about to update their authentication policy that impacts people who use Gmail to send emails through a third-party service like email marketing services or website contact forms. Free email providers like Yahoo, AOL, and soon Google have adopted the strict DMARC email authentication protocol to prevent spam.
If your business uses “@gmail.com” as the “from” address through Mailchimp, Constant Contact, iContact, Gravity Forms, etc., Google’s new protocol will tell receiving servers to reject the email because it’s not sent through a Google server — and the email will most likely bounce or go to spam. That means people you are marketing to may not get your messages — and if you are using a gmail.com address for receiving emails from your website contact form, you may stop getting those. If you are using Google Apps for Work and your email addresses does not contain “gmail.com,” then you should not be affected by this.
